Role overview

Join AWS Field Innovation, a forward-deployed engineering team in Security, Search, Observability, and Governance.

Build and operate detection, correlation, and vulnerability-management capabilities for AWS security services and AI-powered offerings.

Work at the intersection of customer impact, security engineering, and AI.

Key responsibilities

  • Run customer previews, threat modeling, security-agent vulnerability assessments, and remediation guidance.
  • Work backward from customers to shape detection coverage and influence service roadmaps.
  • Develop detection-engineering practices, evaluate security value, reduce false positives, and measure coverage.
  • Collaborate with third-party security providers to turn high-signal findings into correlated detections.
  • Expand detection coverage across cloud resources, runtime, and AI/ML workloads.
  • Monitor evolving cloud-security threats, including threats targeting agentic AI and ML applications.
  • Collaborate with science, engineering, partner, and field teams to support global customers.

Basic qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship experience troubleshooting systems, analyzing logs, or automating complex tasks with command-line tools.
  • 5+ years identifying security issues and risks and developing mitigation plans.
  • 5+ years of non-internship scripting, programming, and security code review experience.
  • Knowledge of at least two of Scala, Java, Python, C/C++, or Go.
  • Industry-based experience identifying security vulnerabilities, attack patterns, and remediation techniques.
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering-team leader.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Preferred qualifications

  • 5+ years in any combination of application security frameworks, identity and access controls, incident response, mobile security, cloud security, AI security, threat intelligence, or penetration testing.
  • AWS architecture, security, and operations experience is preferred.
  • Secure software development lifecycle experience and customer-facing experience are preferred.

Technical environment

  • Security Hub, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, and AWS Continuum.
  • Large language models, AI-assisted development tools, security agents, agent frameworks, and retrieval-augmented generation.

Compensation

  • Base salary varies by location; listed ranges are annual. Seattle range is $178,400–$226,700. Other advertised locations have separate ranges.
