Terms of Service

Welcome to Base Career. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Base Career platform, including our web application at app.basecareer.co, our marketing website at basecareer.co, our Chrome Extension, and all related services (collectively, the "Service"), provided by Base Career ("we," "our," or "us").

By creating an account or using the Service in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

Base Career is an AI-powered job application platform designed to help job seekers in the UAE and globally. The Service includes:

• AI Resume Tailoring: Automated generation of tailored resumes matched to specific job descriptions using your master resume as a source.
• AI Cover Letter Generation: AI-generated cover letters customised to each job application.
• Job Tracking: A Kanban-style board to manage your job applications, statuses, and follow-ups.
• Job Discovery: Access to a curated pool of jobs scraped from multiple sources, with AI-based relevance matching to your profile.
• Chrome Extension: A browser extension to capture job listings from external websites and auto-fill job applications.
• Recruiter Search: Tools to identify and track hiring managers and recruiters relevant to your target roles.
• Follow-Up System: AI-generated email drafts and reminders to follow up on submitted applications.
• Interview Preparation: AI-assisted real-time interview coaching (where available).

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice.

2. Eligibility

To use the Service, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction.
• Not be prohibited from using the Service under applicable law.

By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet all of these requirements.

3. Accounts and Registration

To access most features of the Service, you must create an account. When you register, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration process.
• Maintain and promptly update your account information to keep it accurate and complete.
• Keep your password secure and confidential.
• Notify us immediately at support@basecareer.co of any unauthorised use of your account.
• Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain inaccurate information or that are used in violation of these Terms.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

4.1 Subscription Plans

Base Career offers both free and paid subscription plans. Paid plans unlock higher usage limits, additional AI generation credits, and premium features. Details of current plans and pricing are available at basecareer.co/pricing.

4.2 Billing

Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (weekly or monthly, depending on your chosen plan). Payments are processed securely by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method on the applicable billing cycle.

4.3 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal within your account settings. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods unless required by applicable law.

4.4 Refunds

All payments are generally non-refundable. If you believe you have been charged in error, please contact us at support@basecareer.co within 7 days of the charge and we will review your case.

4.5 Free Tier Limitations

Free accounts are subject to usage limits including limits on AI generations, job scraping, and active job titles. Free accounts that remain inactive for an extended period may be hibernated, pausing job matching until the user returns and re-activates their preferences.

4.6 Promotional Codes and Trials

We may offer promotional codes or trial periods at our discretion. Promo codes are subject to the specific terms associated with each promotion and may be limited in time, usage, or eligibility. We reserve the right to revoke promotional access if we detect abuse or misuse.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms. You must not:

• Use the Service to generate content that is fraudulent, defamatory, misleading, or that misrepresents your identity or qualifications to employers.
• Upload, transmit, or store content that infringes any third-party intellectual property rights.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of any part of the Service.
• Use automated bots, scrapers, or other tools to access the Service in a manner that exceeds normal human usage, other than through our official Chrome Extension.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or to any backend systems.
• Use the Service in any way that could damage, overload, or impair our infrastructure.
• Share your account credentials with others or create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits.
• Use the Service to send unsolicited communications (spam) to recruiters or employers.

We reserve the right to investigate potential violations and, at our sole discretion, terminate or suspend access to the Service for users who violate these rules.

6. AI-Generated Content

Base Career uses AI models (including Google Gemini and other providers) to generate resumes, cover letters, and other content on your behalf. You understand and agree that:

• You are responsible for reviewing all AI-generated content before submitting it to employers. AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies or errors.
• You must not use AI-generated content that misrepresents your qualifications, experience, or identity. Submitting fabricated credentials to employers is your sole liability.
• We do not guarantee that AI-generated documents will result in interviews, job offers, or any specific outcome.
• AI generation is subject to usage quotas based on your subscription plan. Quota resets occur on your billing cycle.
• We do not use your documents or personal data to train public AI models. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

7. User Content

"User Content" means any information, data, text, or materials you upload, submit, or store through the Service — including your master resume, job descriptions, and profile information.

• You retain all ownership rights in your User Content.
• By uploading User Content, you grant Base Career a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store, process, and use your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
• You represent and warrant that you have the right to upload and use all User Content you submit, and that it does not violate any third-party rights or applicable laws.
• We do not sell, share, or use your User Content for any purpose beyond operating the Service for your benefit.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, features, functionality, design, logos, trademarks, and technology that make up the Service — excluding User Content — are owned by Base Career or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, or otherwise exploit any part of the Service without our prior written permission.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial job search purposes, subject to these Terms.

9. Chrome Extension

The Base Career Chrome Extension is a browser tool that enables you to capture job listings from third-party job boards and submit applications. By installing and using the Extension, you agree that:

• The Extension reads page content only on pages you actively visit and at your explicit request.
• You will use the Extension in compliance with the terms of service of any third-party websites you access through it.
• Base Career is not responsible for your use of the Extension on third-party websites, including any actions taken on employer application portals.
• We may update the Extension periodically. Continued use of the Extension after an update constitutes acceptance of any changes.

10. Referral Program

Base Career may offer a referral programme that awards bonus AI generation credits when you invite new users who successfully sign up and complete onboarding. The following conditions apply:

• Referral bonuses are credited at our discretion and subject to change or discontinuation at any time.
• Self-referrals, fraudulent sign-ups, or abuse of the referral system will result in forfeiture of bonuses and possible account suspension.
• Referral credits have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred between accounts.

11. Disclaimers and Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BASE CAREER DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
• ANY WARRANTY THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
• ANY WARRANTY REGARDING THE ACCURACY OR RELIABILITY OF AI-GENERATED CONTENT.
• ANY WARRANTY THAT USE OF THE SERVICE WILL RESULT IN JOB INTERVIEWS, EMPLOYMENT OFFERS, OR ANY OTHER SPECIFIC OUTCOME.

Base Career is a tool to assist your job search. We do not guarantee employment or any specific career outcome.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL BASE CAREER, ITS AFFILIATES, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION:

• Loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses.
• Damages arising from your use or inability to use the Service.
• Damages arising from any content or actions taken in reliance on AI-generated content.
• Damages arising from unauthorised access to or alteration of your transmissions or data.

In any case, our aggregate liability to you for all claims relating to the Service shall not exceed the total amount you paid to Base Career in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or USD $100, whichever is greater.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Base Career and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to your violation of these Terms, your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of any third-party rights.

14. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in the Privacy Policy.

15. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause or notice, including if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at support@basecareer.co or through your account settings. Upon termination:

• Your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
• Any outstanding subscription obligations remain due.
• We may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes as described in our Privacy Policy.

16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If resolution cannot be reached, disputes may be submitted to binding arbitration or competent courts as permitted by applicable law in your jurisdiction.

Nothing in these Terms shall limit your rights under applicable consumer protection laws in your country of residence.

17. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in-app notification.

Your continued use of the Service after any changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with any changes, you must stop using the Service.

18. Miscellaneous

• Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Base Career concerning the Service.
• Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
• Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of that right or provision.
• Assignment: You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights freely.
• No Third-Party Beneficiaries: These Terms do not confer any third-party beneficiary rights.
