Sr Data Solutions Architect, Strategic Accounts

Role overview

Customer engagement and delivery

• Design, implement, and manage AWS, open-source, and partner data solutions for customer technical requirements and business objectives.
• Conduct customer and partner assessments and visits, gather requirements, and create reference architectures for analytics, databases, and storage.
• Develop customer visions for modern data ecosystems supporting agent-based data consumption.
• Own implementation project planning, execution, technical engagement, and outcomes; oversee delivery and security and governance compliance.

Architecture and technical advisory

• Help define and implement data lake and lakehouse architectures, including distributed computing across private and public clouds.
• Advise on industry trends and emerging technologies, lead implementations, apply best practices, optimize performance, and manage risk.
• Assess current infrastructure and propose migration strategies to AWS.
• Share successes and learnings with the broader AWS solutions architect community.

Collaboration

• Work with sales and technical teams on proposals and customer needs, coordinating with account managers, service teams, and go-to-market teams.
• Represent customer needs to AWS service teams and leadership and help influence product direction.

Basic qualifications

• At least 8 years of experience in a technology domain such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, or data and analytics.
• At least 3 years of experience designing, implementing, or consulting on applications and infrastructures.
• At least 10 years of IT development or implementation/consulting experience in software or internet industries.
• Experience with big data processing, data warehouse architecture, infrastructure components, ETL, and reporting or analytics tools and environments.

Preferred qualifications

• Preferred: 5 or more years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking experience.
• Preferred: experience working with end-user or developer communities.
• Preferred: bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent.
• Preferred: knowledge of cloud architecture, AWS services, markets, customer base, and industry verticals.
• Preferred: team or organizational leadership and influence, or experience building complex software systems successfully delivered to customers.

Technology landscape

• AWS services include Amazon RDS, Aurora, Redshift, Athena, EMR, Glue, Kinesis, and MSK.
• Partner technologies include Snowflake and Databricks; open-source frameworks include Spark, Flink, and Trino.
• The work spans databases, storage, analytics, data lakes, lakehouses, and cloud architecture.

Travel

• The role is open to up to 25% domestic travel, with some international travel.

Annual base salary

• Annual base salary varies by listed work location: San Diego and Arlington $153,600–$207,800; San Francisco $176,600–$239,000; Seattle $153,600–$207,800.
• The package also includes sign-on payments and restricted stock units; final compensation depends on experience, qualifications, and location.
