Software Development Engineer II, Lightsail

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Design and build distributed Lightsail features using Java, Go, JavaScript, and React across backend services and frontend experiences.
• Integrate with AWS partner services including EC2, Route 53, S3, DynamoDB, and SQS.
• Maintain operational health by identifying production root causes and delivering permanent fixes.
• Participate in design reviews and code reviews, provide feedback, and mentor engineers.
• Evaluate new technologies, including generative AI tools, to improve productivity and solution quality.
• Update documentation to help future engineers ramp up and maintain the code.

Basic qualifications

• At least 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• At least 2 years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• At least 2 years of non-internship design or architecture experience with new and existing systems.
• At least 1 year designing and developing large-scale software using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• At least 1 year of object-oriented design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Preferred qualifications

• At least 3 years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, reviews, source control, builds, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent is also listed as preferred.

Compensation

• The listed base salary range is USD 143,700–194,400 annually.
• The package includes sign-on payments and restricted stock units; final compensation depends on experience, qualifications, and location.
