Role purpose

Own the design, development, integration, deployment, and continuous improvement of secure, scalable software and AI-enabled business applications.

Work with the CDO to turn business requirements into reliable products and digital solutions using a hands-on, startup-oriented approach.

Software engineering and architecture

  • Develop and maintain production software in Python and Rust.
  • Design backend services, APIs, databases, and scalable application architecture; own code reviews, testing, security, and performance.
  • Manage delivery from requirements and design through CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.

AI development lifecycle

  • Build AI-enabled features, LLM applications, intelligent workflows, and automation.
  • Own AI use-case definition, data preparation, model/API selection, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and improvement.
  • Apply data protection, access controls, testing, and human oversight to AI solutions.

Mobile apps and integrations

  • Build backend services for iOS and Android apps, including authentication, notifications, and payment or third-party integrations as needed.
  • Develop REST APIs, webhooks, and middleware for ERP, CRM, HRMS, and other business platforms.
  • Ensure secure data synchronization, resilient error handling, observability, and integration documentation.

Product ownership and collaboration

  • Translate business needs into specifications, delivery milestones, and MVPs, balancing speed with maintainability.
  • Coordinate with the CDO, internal stakeholders, and vendors; communicate risks, progress, and trade-offs.
  • Prepare architecture diagrams, API documentation, release notes, runbooks, and handover materials.

Required qualifications and experience

  • 6–8 years of professional software engineering experience, including hands-on product development.
  • Strong production Python skills and practical Rust development experience.
  • Demonstrable delivery of AI applications spanning development, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Experience with mobile application backends, APIs, ERP/CRM integrations, and relational databases.
  • Experience in a startup, scale-up, or product-owning organization; direct product ownership is preferred over exclusively outsourced service delivery.
  • Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure, Git, CI/CD, containers, testing, and secure engineering practices.
  • Excellent spoken and written English, stakeholder communication, and technical documentation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.

Preferred exposure

  • Preferred exposure includes AWS, Azure, or GCP; PostgreSQL or MySQL; Docker or Kubernetes; RAG, LLM evaluation, or MLOps; Flutter or React Native; Odoo, Microsoft Dynamics, or Salesforce; and consumer-facing product domains.

Proposed performance scorecard

Proposed KPIs are subject to CDO approval after a 30-day baseline and should be calibrated to project complexity, resources, and agreed delivery scope.

Delivery predictability: proposed target of at least 90% of committed sprint or milestone deliverables completed on time, with changes documented and approved; reviewed monthly.

Quality and production stability: proposed targets include no unresolved critical defects at release, at least 95% of agreed automated tests passing, and corrective action reviews for severity-1 incidents; reviewed monthly.

AI delivery: deliver agreed use cases to acceptance criteria and document evaluation, quality, cost, and monitoring before release; reviewed quarterly.

Integration reliability: proposed target of at least 99% successful scheduled transactions, excluding third-party outages, with failures monitored and reconciled; reviewed monthly.

Engineering standards and security: production changes peer-reviewed or CDO-approved and no overdue critical security findings within the agreed remediation SLA; reviewed monthly.

Documentation and handover: keep API/architecture notes, deployment instructions, and operational runbooks current for production services; reviewed quarterly.

Stakeholder collaboration: provide weekly progress and risk reports; proposed average feedback target of at least 4/5 for communication and responsiveness; reviewed quarterly.
