Role overview

Category strategy and risk management

• Develop strategies for transport, warehousing, last mile, customs, and 3PL/4PL services.
• Ensure policy, Incoterms 2020, trade-compliance, and data-privacy adherence; establish contingency capacity.
• Run total-cost, should-cost, and lane-level models; govern index-based pricing and fuel surcharges.
• Align demand, forecasts, and capacity with Supply Chain; optimize distribution networks, consolidation, and mode mix.
• Optimize Incoterms, load consolidation, and routing guides; define sourcing waves and project pipelines.

Sourcing and project management

• Deliver complex RFPs, transitions, and network changes with cross-functional teams.
• Lead source-to-contract work, including market scans, RFI/RFP, eAuctions, evaluation, and negotiations.
• Establish supplier relationship and lifecycle governance for carriers, 3PLs/4PLs, and customs brokers.
• Maintain clean lane, rate-card, and surcharge data and contract repositories with metadata and alerts.

Performance and team development

• Drive service performance, innovation, sustainability, shipment-emissions tracking, and packaging optimization.
• Align specifications, SLAs, and budgets with business units, Finance, and Operations; establish stakeholder committees for major initiatives.
• Work with IT to integrate TMS/WMS and e-procurement systems and enable automated KPI dashboards; provide market intelligence.
• Coach and develop the team in sourcing, analytics, and contracts, with learning and succession plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or Business; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• 7–10 years of procurement experience focused on logistics categories.
• Proven global freight/3PL sourcing and contract-management experience, including RFx and eAuctions.
• Working knowledge of Incoterms 2020 and customs and trade compliance.
• Hands-on experience with TMS/WMS and e-procurement platforms such as SAP Ariba or Coupa.

Required skills

• Strong negotiation and contract drafting skills, including MSAs and SLAs.
• Data fluency in Excel/Sheets and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Cross-functional influence, change leadership, and risk-management expertise.
• Advanced analytics and financial acumen in total cost of ownership, indexation, and benchmarking.
• CIPS or equivalent is highly desirable; APICS CSCP/CLTD or similar logistics certifications are advantageous.
