Leads strategic sourcing and supplier management for domestic and international logistics services.
Oversees a team and delivers cost savings, service improvements, risk management, and strategic collaboration.
Category strategy and risk
- Develop strategies for transport, warehousing, last mile, customs, and 3PL/4PL; ensure policy, Incoterms, trade compliance, and data privacy adherence.
- Model total cost, should cost, lanes, index-based pricing, and fuel surcharges; align demand and capacity with Supply Chain.
- Optimize distribution networks, Incoterms, consolidation, and routing; define sourcing waves and project pipeline.
Sourcing and supplier management
- Deliver complex RFPs, transitions, and network changes; lead source-to-contract market scans, RFIs, RFPs, eAuctions, evaluation, and negotiations.
- Govern strategic carriers, 3PLs/4PLs, and customs brokers; manage supplier lifecycles and maintain clean rate, lane, surcharge, and contract data.
Performance and team leadership
- Drive performance, innovation, sustainability, CO2-per-shipment measures, and packaging optimization.
- Align specifications, SLAs, and budgets with business units, Finance, and Operations; provide market intelligence and establish stakeholder committees.
- Partner with IT on TMS/WMS and e-procurement integration and automated KPI dashboards.
- Coach the team in sourcing, analytics, and contracts; maintain development, training, and succession plans.
Required qualifications
- Strong negotiation and contract drafting, data fluency, stakeholder influence, change leadership, and risk management expertise.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or Business; Master’s degree preferred.
- 7–10 years of procurement experience focused on logistics categories.
- Global freight or 3PL sourcing and contract management experience, including RFx and eAuctions.
- Working knowledge of Incoterms 2020, customs, and trade compliance.
- Hands-on TMS/WMS and e-procurement platform experience, such as SAP Ariba or Coupa; advanced analytics and financial acumen in TCO, indexation, and benchmarking.
- CIPS or equivalent is highly desirable; APICS CSCP/CLTD or similar certifications are advantageous.
