Role overview

Governance frameworks and platforms

• Design and implement governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operating models.
• Configure Microsoft Purview for cataloguing, metadata, classification, lineage, and governance.
• Maintain business glossaries, data dictionaries, data domains, critical data elements, and ownership, stewardship, and RACI models.
• Define data quality rules, KPIs, monitoring, and remediation processes; maintain lineage and impact analysis.
• Support classification, sensitivity, privacy, security, and compliance requirements.

Collaboration and delivery

• Embed governance by design with Azure data engineering and architecture teams.
• Work with ADLS Gen2, Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Azure SQL, and Power BI and/or Microsoft Fabric.
• Assess governance maturity, identify gaps, and develop roadmaps and improvement plans.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, data owners, stewards, architects, engineering, security, and compliance teams.
• Prepare governance documentation, dashboards, reports, and executive recommendations.

Required experience and knowledge

• Seven to nine years in data governance, data management, data quality, metadata management, or data architecture.
• Strong hands-on Microsoft Purview experience and strong understanding of Azure data platforms and cloud data governance.
• Experience with cataloguing, metadata, lineage, classification, data quality, and business glossaries.
• Understanding of Azure Data Lake, ADF, Synapse, Databricks, and Power BI or Fabric.
• Knowledge of data security, privacy, access governance, and compliance; strong stakeholder, consulting, communication, and documentation skills.

Education and preferred qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Enterprise-scale data environment experience is preferred.
• DAMA/CDMP, Microsoft Azure, or related certifications are advantageous.
