Planning Engineer (Fire Rated Doors & Hardwares)

Role overview

Project planning and scheduling

• Review project orders, specifications, and delivery requirements for fire-rated doors and associated hardware.
• Develop project plans, production schedules, and delivery milestones; coordinate engineering, procurement, manufacturing, inspection, and dispatch.
• Monitor schedule progress, identify delays, recommend recovery plans, and update stakeholders on progress and changes.

Materials and production coordination

• Coordinate material needs with procurement and stores; review bills of materials, product specifications, and hardware schedules.
• Track availability and flag shortages, long lead-time items, and supply constraints.
• Plan production capacity, sequencing, and resources with production teams, and help resolve issues affecting flow or delivery.

Technical documentation and reporting

• Review approved drawings, schedules, and project documentation; circulate current drawings, specifications, and revisions to relevant teams.
• Maintain records of project plans, changes, production status, and delivery dates; support planning reports and progress updates.
• Coordinate with engineering and quality teams to align products and hardware with approved requirements.

Progress, ownership, and improvement

• Track orders from project release through production completion and dispatch; report schedule performance, outstanding actions, and delivery risks.
• Analyse planning data for bottlenecks and recurring delays, escalate issues, and work with teams on corrective actions.
• Maintain planning data in ERP systems and approved tracking tools; follow assigned actions through and contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications and skills

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Planning, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Relevant experience in planning, production coordination, or project scheduling, preferably in manufacturing, construction products, or building materials.
• Fire-rated door, door hardware, joinery, or related product experience is an advantage.
• Interpret technical drawings, product specifications, bills of materials, and project schedules; know production planning, material coordination, and delivery tracking processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using ERP or production planning systems.
• Strong organisation, analytical and time-management skills, attention to detail, clear communication, and coordination across teams.
• Manage competing deadlines, identify risks, and follow through on actions.
