The Retail Operations Manager drives operational excellence and commercial performance across the store network.
The role leads store teams to achieve sales, profitability, compliance, customer experience, and personnel development objectives.
Commercial performance and operations
- Drive sales, profitability, and productivity across stores; monitor sales, conversion, ATV, IPC, UPT, footfall, NPS, shrinkage, and EBIT.
- Identify trading opportunities, improve revenue and margin, and lead reviews and recovery plans for underperforming stores.
- Ensure operational standards, policies, procedures, compliance, audit, health and safety, and governance requirements are met.
- Oversee stock, inventory accuracy, replenishment, shrinkage control, rota planning, and labor productivity.
Customer experience and people leadership
- Champion customer service, monitor feedback, implement improvements, and maintain brand and customer experience standards.
- Lead, coach, and develop Store Managers and field leaders; drive succession planning, talent development, recruitment, onboarding, and capability building.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability and engagement.
Projects and financial management
- Support store openings, relocations, pop-ups, refurbishments, and operational readiness for business initiatives.
- Work across Commercial, HR, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Property teams.
- Manage operational budgets and cost controls; deliver profit improvements and monitor payroll, overtime, consumables, and operating expenditure.
Qualifications and skills
- Requires 5–10+ years of retail management experience.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen with P&L ownership is required.
- Requires experience leading large teams across multiple locations.
- Multi-site retail leadership experience is preferred.
- Required skills include commercial acumen, strategic thinking, problem solving, leadership, coaching, stakeholder management, and communication.
