Provide hands-on technical support for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems at an AWS data center.
The internship may be a pathway to a full-time Engineering Operations Technician role, subject to performance, openings, and business needs.
The systems support mission-critical servers and data center availability.
Who should apply
- Final-year bachelor’s students in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Graduation by the end of the internship is required.
- A valid driving license and personal transportation are required for daily commuting to the remote data center site, which has no public transportation access.
Duties and equipment
- Maintain mechanical and electrical equipment and assist with root cause analysis of failures.
- Troubleshoot facility- and rack-level events within internal SLAs and take daily equipment readings.
- Use internal CMMS tools to manage building workflows and coordinate with on-site vendors and contractors.
- Equipment includes diesel generators, switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems.
Internship structure
- Full-time internship of 40 hours per week for 3 consecutive months, starting in summer 2027.
- Interns are required to report on site daily; schedules are typically day shifts, Sunday through Thursday.
- Potential full-time technician roles operate rotating shifts, which may include nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Site location
- The role is based at a data center facility in a remote location with no public transportation access.
