Role Overview

An experienced UAE-based veterinarian is required to provide specialist veterinary and practitioner input to a veterinary vaccine feasibility study.

The consultant will advise on animal health, livestock production, disease control, vaccination practices, and veterinary services in the UAE and wider GCC.

The engagement is flexible and call-off through December 2026, with work alongside a multidisciplinary consulting team.

Engagement Terms

  • This is an independent advisory consultancy engagement and is not an employment position.
  • The consultant will be engaged on a flexible, call-off basis through December 2026, depending on project requirements.
  • Compensation will be based on an hourly consulting rate determined by qualifications, experience, and expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and validate livestock, disease, vaccination, and animal-health services data in the UAE and GCC.
  • Assess local conditions, challenge vaccine-market assumptions, and provide input on disease prevention, control, surveillance, and vaccination.
  • Participate in project discussions, client and stakeholder meetings, and field visits to livestock farms.
  • Interpret field observations and explain veterinary matters to consultants and non-specialist stakeholders.
  • Advise on veterinary regulations, vaccination programmes, and regional animal-health supply chains.
  • Respond to project queries and support meetings or field visits at short notice.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Veterinary degree such as DVM, BVSc, BVMS, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional veterinary experience.
  • Strong expertise in ruminant health, particularly camel, sheep, goat, and cattle health.
  • Direct UAE experience in livestock production and disease control.
  • Working knowledge of livestock markets across the GCC and poultry health.
  • Practical experience in disease prevention, diagnosis, control, surveillance, and vaccination.
  • Familiarity with veterinary vaccination programmes, regulations, and the animal-health supply chain.
  • Strong communication skills, English fluency, multidisciplinary teamwork, and short-notice flexibility.

Desirable Experience

  • Exposure to companion animal and equine health is desirable.
  • Experience with veterinary vaccine manufacturers, animal-health companies, research institutes, or disease-control programmes is advantageous.
  • Experience with WOAH, FAO, veterinary public health, government veterinary authorities, or public-sector animal-health programmes is advantageous.

Location and Availability

  • The consultant must currently be based in the UAE.
  • Potential travel within the UAE and wider GCC is required.
  • Immediate availability and the ability to respond flexibly at short notice are required.
