Sustainability Assurance Coordinator

Role Purpose

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary sustainability focal point at venue level during event-time operations.
• Monitor and ensure real-time compliance with the tournament’s sustainability standards, policies, and operating procedures across assigned venues.
• Conduct on-site inspections and assurance checks relating to: Waste management, Energy consumption, Water stewardship, Accessibility requirements, Environmental compliance measures.
• Verify that contractors, service providers, suppliers, and venue teams adhere to sustainability requirements embedded within their scopes of work.
• Identify non-compliance risks and escalate issues in line with established governance and reporting protocols.
• Provide guidance and clarification on sustainability requirements to operational teams and stakeholders.
• Support the Sustainability team during engagement with auditors, certification bodies, and external stakeholders as required.
• Supervise and coordinate sustainability volunteers deployed across venues.
• Ensure volunteers are appropriately briefed, deployed, and effectively utilized, including support for fan engagement activities and sustainability awareness initiatives.
• Liaise with internal functional areas including Operations, Facilities, Commercial, Workforce, Transport, and Venue Management teams to ensure alignment on sustainability implementation.
• Coordinate with external stakeholders, including service providers, municipalities, waste management contractors, and recycling partners.
• Execute accurate and timely collection of sustainability performance data, including: Waste volumes and diversion rates, Energy consumption, Water usage, Other sustainability KPIs.
• Maintain daily logs, reporting trackers, and compliance records for assigned venues.
• Identify, record, and monitor operational sustainability issues in real time.
• Implement immediate corrective actions within the scope of authority.
• Escalate critical risks, incidents, or systemic issues through defined escalation channels.

• Issue logs with resolution tracking and closure reporting
• Effective volunteer deployment and performance oversight
• Contributions to tournament sustainability reporting and post-event reporting activities

Required Experience & Qualifications

• 3-6 years of experience in sustainability, event operations, venue operations, environmental management, or related fields.
• Experience working on major events, sports tournaments, exhibitions, festivals, or large-scale public events is preferred.
• Familiarity with sustainable event management frameworks, including ISO 20121, is advantageous.
• Experience operating in fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environments.
