The Student Counselling Specialist supports students’ academic success, personal growth, and wellbeing through counselling and related initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual counselling using psychological interventions agreed with students.
- Build rapport and provide timely therapeutic support in a safe, confidential setting.
- Maintain confidential case records in line with professional standards and university guidelines.
- Participate in clinical supervision and case consultations; reflect on concerns and identify emerging student needs.
- Contribute to student engagement, personal development, and academic-success initiatives.
- Promote mental health and wellbeing through workshops, awareness campaigns, and campus initiatives.
- Promote self-advocacy and provide case-specific advocacy support when appropriate.
- Advise faculty, employees, deans, and executives on student success and wellbeing concerns.
- Contribute to policies and procedures, recommend service improvements, and support new procedures.
- Adhere to professional ethics and maintain current counselling knowledge through ongoing development.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and experience
- A master’s degree in psychology or a relevant field is required.
- At least five years of student counselling experience is required.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is preferred.
