Structural Design Engineer

Role overview

Project coordination and design

• Coordinate structural design with project managers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and stakeholders; communicate progress, changes, and challenges.
• Resolve conflicts between design requirements and project constraints, objectives, and timelines.
• Develop and review structural drawings, calculations, and specifications; analyze designs with software tools.
• Review design documents for risks, errors, and inefficiencies; optimize solutions for cost, constructability, and sustainability.
• Provide technical guidance, review subcontractor designs, monitor project progress, and address design issues.
• Prepare and present reports, presentations, and design-status updates; submit documents and inputs on time.

Quality and general duties

• Establish quality assurance procedures and check designs against standards, codes, and specifications.
• Inspect and audit structural components during project stages; address deviations and deficiencies.
• Follow company policies and confidentiality requirements and comply with QHSE policies.
• Submit balanced scorecards on time and maintain supporting KPI performance documentation.
• Complete assigned tasks efficiently and within budget.

Knowledge and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of structural design and coordination experience in construction.
• Project management or coordination experience is preferred; a proven record of successful project delivery is required.
• Familiarity with construction processes and practices.

Skills

• Proficiency in structural design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000, or ETABS.
• Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, building codes, regulations, and standards.
• Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings; expertise in structural analysis and design.
• Project management, attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, leadership, adaptability, time management, and organization.
