Key responsibilities
- Manage design from concept development through construction and project handover.
- Coordinate consultants, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and project teams to integrate designs and ensure constructability.
- Review architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings to identify clashes and design issues.
- Lead design coordination meetings and resolve design matters on time.
- Review consultant submissions, shop drawings, material submittals, RFIs, and technical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements, contract specifications, local regulations, and authority approvals.
- Support construction with project management and site teams, resolving engineering challenges.
- Manage design deliverables and adherence to approved schedules; assess cost, quality, and timeline impacts of design changes.
- Support value engineering and cost optimization without compromising quality.
- Liaise with authorities and utility providers for approvals and permits; maintain design review and approval records.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 10–15 years of construction design management experience.
- Experience managing large-scale high-rise, residential, commercial, hospitality, or mixed-use building projects.
- Tier-1 contractor experience in the UAE/GCC is preferred.
- Strong understanding of local authority regulations and approval processes.
Skills and competencies
- Leadership and stakeholder management; construction methodologies and design coordination.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM platforms, and MS Office.
- Problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines; commercial awareness and risk management.
