About the role

Serve as a primary technical authority shaping the design, performance, and scale of core backend architecture.

Architect resilient services for intelligent site technology and translate complex business needs into reliable cloud services.

Mentor engineers, raise development standards, and influence engineering culture.

Workplace

  • The role is based onsite at LVT’s American Fork headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Drive backend architecture, technical direction, and design standards across production services.
  • Build scalable Node.js and TypeScript backend systems and API services.
  • Improve engineering practices, code quality, reliability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Find bottlenecks, streamline CI/CD, and introduce productivity tools.
  • Coordinate with Product Management, QA, and DevOps on specifications, estimates, and delivery.
  • Resolve complex technical challenges to protect uptime and resilience.
  • Mentor engineers through feedback, design reviews, and technical upskilling.
  • Evaluate technologies, tools, and cloud/API frameworks for future backend improvements.

Candidate qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on backend systems, cloud services, and APIs.
  • 3+ years of production experience architecting and maintaining enterprise Node.js and TypeScript services.
  • Expertise in OpenAPI/REST API design and hands-on GraphQL query and mutation work.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as NestJS and containerized workflows using Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
  • Relational database proficiency and query optimization; SQL experience is preferred.
  • Experience guiding technical teams and driving engineering culture and process improvements in Agile environments.
  • Strong reliability, testing, root-cause problem-solving, communication, and adaptability.
