Senior Waiter

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned section and deliver a refined, personalized guest experience.
• Provide knowledgeable food and beverage service with attention to detail.
• Coordinate with kitchen, bar, and support teams to maintain efficient service flow.
• Mentor junior team members and model service best practices.
• Maintain presentation, cleanliness, and service standards throughout shifts.
• Take and process orders accurately, accommodate special requests, and use POS systems for billing.
• Anticipate guest needs and preferences to foster satisfaction and loyalty.
• Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally and empathetically.
• Manage table setup, coordination, and breakdown.
• Follow health, safety, hygiene, and company service standards.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and inclusive behavior.

Required skills and experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of progressive waiter experience in upscale dining or hospitality.
• Proven expertise in section management and guest service delivery.
• Strong knowledge of food and beverage offerings, dining etiquette, and service protocols.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to mentor junior staff.
• Proficiency with POS systems and restaurant management software.
• Strong organization and time management; ability to multitask in fast-paced environments.
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and carry trays and service equipment.
• High attention to detail, high service standards, conflict-resolution and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• High school diploma or equivalent; food safety and hygiene certification or willingness to obtain it.

Preferred skills and experience

• Fine-dining or luxury hospitality experience.
• Wine-pairing and beverage-recommendation knowledge.
• Experience coordinating with kitchen and bar teams in high-volume settings.
• Familiarity with multiple cuisines and dietary requirements; previous team training or onboarding experience.
• Multilingual ability, particularly Arabic or other languages spoken in Dubai.

Education and certifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Food safety and hygiene certification is required, or the candidate must be willing to obtain it.
• Hospitality or customer service certification is preferred.
