Barista role reporting to the Coffee Shop Supervisor at SO/ Uptown Dubai.
Prepare quality beverages and deliver attentive service in a fast-paced, collaborative café environment.
Service and beverage preparation
- Provide friendly, professional customer service and create a welcoming atmosphere.
- Prepare and sell specialty coffees, teas, and other beverages using prescribed recipes and techniques.
- Take and complete orders accurately; answer questions and offer personalized beverage recommendations.
Café operations
- Replenish coffee beans, supplies, brewing equipment, and baked goods; maintain inventory.
- Operate and maintain coffee equipment, troubleshoot minor problems, and coordinate repairs.
- Keep the café and coffee bar clean, organized, and inviting; follow UAE health, safety, and food hygiene guidelines.
- Evaluate processes and suggest service or operational improvements; follow sustainability initiatives.
Candidate qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and English communication skills; professional, reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
- Knowledge of espresso machines, equipment operation and troubleshooting, coffee bean varieties, flavor profiles, and brewing techniques.
- Experience with cash handling and POS systems; food safety and hygiene certification or willingness to obtain it as required by UAE regulations.
- Able to work under pressure, multitask, prioritize, collaborate, and stand for extended periods while performing repetitive tasks.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Retail and/or food and beverage experience is considered an asset.
Schedule
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and weekends, as needed.
