Senior Mechanical Engineer

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor on-site HVAC, chilled water, ventilation, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting works.
• Review mechanical drawings, shop drawings, material submittals, technical specifications, and method statements.
• Ensure installations follow approved drawings, specifications, and UAE regulations.
• Coordinate with engineering teams, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors to resolve technical and site issues.
• Inspect work quality and progress; monitor subcontractors against project schedules.
• Prepare and review RFIs, technical reports, inspection requests, and other engineering records.
• Resolve site issues, design discrepancies, and clashes with other building systems.
• Ensure QA/QC, health and safety, and project quality compliance.
• Coordinate material approvals and procurement evaluations.
• Supervise testing, adjusting, balancing, and commissioning; coordinate applicable authority inspections and approvals.
• Review as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and handover documentation; guide junior engineers and site teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of mechanical engineering experience in the UAE construction industry.
• Building construction project experience; residential towers, commercial buildings, hotels, or mixed-use developments are preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, ventilation, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems.
• Experience reviewing shop drawings, technical submittals, method statements, RFIs, and material approvals.
• Understanding of UAE construction standards, authority requirements, and relevant international codes.
• AutoCAD proficiency; Revit MEP and Navisworks knowledge is an advantage.
• Experience with site inspections, quality control, testing, commissioning, and project handover.
• Strong coordination, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills; able to work with multidisciplinary project teams.
