Role overview

The Senior Data Modeler will design data models for Nike's Activity domain, supporting AI-powered coaching experiences across Nike Run Club and Nike Training Club.

The role reports to the Director of Marketing BI within MAC BI, Nike's Marketing, Activity, and Converse business-intelligence function.

Data architecture and modeling

  • Own logical and physical data architecture for the Activity domain.
  • Design a unified athlete profile that brings together wearable-device data from Garmin, Apple Watch, and COROS.
  • Model structured training inputs such as goals, baselines, and injury history alongside unstructured coaching notes, feedback, and perceived-exertion data.
  • Connect Nike Sport Research Lab sport-science models to production coaching recommendations; create the model contract between raw device data and the AI Coaching Engine.

Must-have qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, data analytics, or a related field; suitable combinations of education, experience, or training are accepted.
  • 5+ years of data modeling across analytical and operational systems, including large-scale platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, or equivalent.
  • Deep expertise in dimensional modeling, Data Vault, or medallion architectures.
  • Production experience harmonizing data from multiple vendors or systems into consistent representations.
  • Advanced SQL and data-profiling skills; experience producing source-to-target mappings and working with engineers to implement them.
  • Strong collaboration skills across engineering and analytics.

Preferred qualifications

  • Wearable, IoT, or sensor-data modeling experience is strongly preferred.
  • Health, fitness, or sport-science data experience is strongly preferred.
  • Databricks/Spark physical-design familiarity, schema evolution and versioning experience, and comfort collaborating across time zones are strongly preferred.
  • Nike internal data-platform familiarity, endurance-sports or coaching background, health/fitness data privacy modeling, and ML/AI consumption modeling are nice to have.

Team context

MAC BI owns data pipelines, reporting platforms, and AI-powered insights for Nike's Marketing, Activity, and Converse organizations.

The team includes engineers, analysts, and data scientists distributed across Beaverton and Bangalore, under Marketing Technology and Converse.
