Role overview

Senior Data Analyst (Report Developer) role in Social Security Scotland's Data Services Team.

Design, develop, and support Power BI reporting solutions that inform operational and strategic decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and support Power BI reports and dashboards, including publication through Power BI Service.
  • Translate stakeholder business needs into user-focused visualizations and reporting products.
  • Develop reporting standards and improve data, reporting, and visualization practices.
  • Conduct complex analysis and synthesis and communicate findings through reports, dashboards, presentations, or briefings.
  • Run meetings and workshops and provide guidance, documentation, and user support.
  • Assure colleagues' analysis and resolve reporting issues; validate outputs and support data-driven solutions.
  • Define data management and governance mechanisms and use BI platforms and tooling.
  • Perform data mapping and pipelining for data integration; work with diverse datasets.
  • Apply data quality methods, support metadata standards and interoperability, and contribute to corporate data patterns.
  • Manage analysis projects and share knowledge with colleagues.

Role-level expectations

  • Strong Power BI development expertise, including Power BI Service.
  • Experience with complex data, stakeholder engagement, and translating business needs into reports and visualizations.
  • Guide others in data preparation, management, and use.
  • Lead processes and communication for data, reporting, visualization, and data projects.
