Role overview

Develop and support high-quality Power BI reporting for operational and strategic decisions across Social Security Scotland.

Work in the Data Services Team with complex datasets and enterprise data platforms.

Support a managed self-service reporting model through standards, governance, documentation, and user guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development, publication, and support of Power BI reports and dashboards from requirements through delivery.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into user-focused reporting products and visualisations.
  • Develop data visualisation standards and improve data and reporting practices.
  • Conduct complex analysis and synthesis; produce reports, dashboards, presentations, and briefings for varied audiences.
  • Run workshops, peer-review analysis, investigate reporting issues, and validate reporting outputs.
  • Define data governance and management mechanisms; carry out data mapping and pipelining for integration.
  • Contribute to corporate data patterns, metadata standards, and semantic interoperability.
  • Manage analysis projects, apply data quality methods, and guide colleagues in appropriate data practices.

Person specification

  • Strong Power BI development expertise, including Power BI Service.
  • Experience with complex data, reporting, and translating business requirements into visualisations.
  • Stakeholder communication skills, including adapting to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to guide others and lead improvements to data, reporting, and visualisation practices.

Salary and contract

  • Salary range: £49,401–£59,152; no salary cadence is specified.
  • Permanent contract; full-time working pattern.
