Role overview

Senior Data Analyst (Report Developer) in the Data Services Team at Social Security Scotland.

Lead development and support of Power BI reporting solutions that inform operational and strategic decisions.

Support a managed self-service reporting model and promote robust, accessible, fit-for-purpose reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end Power BI report and dashboard development, from requirements gathering through publishing and support.
  • Translate business and stakeholder needs into user-focused reporting products and visualisations.
  • Develop reporting and data visualisation standards and governance practices.
  • Analyse complex and diverse datasets, manage data quality, and resolve reporting issues.
  • Communicate analysis through reports, dashboards, presentations, briefings, meetings, and workshops.
  • Review colleagues’ analytical outputs and guide appropriate data practices.
  • Carry out data mapping and pipelining, contribute to corporate data patterns, and support metadata standards.
  • Manage data analysis projects and share knowledge with others.

Person specification

  • Experienced Power BI Developer, BI Developer, or Reporting Analyst with strong Power BI development skills.
  • Strong data analysis and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Able to translate complex data and business requirements into useful visualisations.
  • Able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.

Salary and contract

  • Salary range is £49,401–£59,152; no pay cadence is stated.
  • Permanent contract; full-time working pattern.
  • Two positions are available.
