Role overview

Senior Data Analyst (Report Developer) in Social Security Scotland's Data Services Team.

Develop and support Power BI reporting solutions that inform operational and strategic decisions.

The role supports a managed self-service reporting model and improvement of reporting services.

Role responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end development of Power BI dashboards and reports, from requirements gathering through publishing and support.
  • Work with complex datasets and enterprise data platforms to create accurate, user-focused reporting products.
  • Develop reporting and visualisation standards, governance, and better ways of working with data.
  • Guide users through documentation and support, and run meetings and workshops on reporting and analysis.
  • Conduct complex analysis, produce reports and briefings, and communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Assure and peer-review colleagues' analysis; investigate reporting issues, validate outputs, and resolve data issues.
  • Define data management and governance mechanisms and tools, including reporting and BI platforms.
  • Carry out data mapping and pipelining, contribute to corporate data patterns, and uphold metadata and data quality standards.

Candidate profile

  • Strong technical expertise in Power BI, including Power BI Service.
  • Experienced Power BI Developer, BI Developer, or Reporting Analyst sought.
  • Able to work with complex data, translate business requirements into meaningful visualisations, and engage stakeholders.
  • Able to guide others in appropriate data preparation, management, and use practices.

Salary

  • Salary range is £49,401 to £59,152; no pay cadence is stated.

Contract and working pattern

  • The role is permanent and full-time.
  • Two positions are available.

Locations

  • The description lists Dundee and Glasgow.
