Role overview

Dashboard design and delivery

• Build, publish, and maintain Tableau and Amazon QuickSight dashboards for operational and executive audiences.
• Model business questions into datasets and data sources using joins, calculated fields, parameters, and filters.
• Use visual hierarchy, color, layout, and accessible typography to make dashboards easy to use.
• Optimize performance through query and connection choices and manage refresh schedules.
• Maintain a clean portfolio of published assets and retire stale content.

Stakeholder and engineering collaboration

• Engage stakeholders to understand decisions and the evidence needed to inform them.
• Present findings as clear narratives and recommendations for non-technical audiences.
• Document dashboard purpose, limitations, and underlying data ownership.
• Partner with data engineers on analytics-ready data sources; write SQL for analysis, prototyping, and validation.
• Communicate data gaps and quality issues, and help prioritize engineering backlog needs.

Quality and improvement

• Validate dashboard figures against source systems and promptly surface discrepancies.
• Monitor usage and gather feedback; revise or retire dashboards that are not useful.
• Identify opportunities to consolidate reports, improve refresh cadence, or migrate legacy Tableau or Excel content between platforms.

Required qualifications

• 5+ years building production BI dashboards with Tableau, Amazon QuickSight, Power BI, Looker, or comparable tools, with deep hands-on proficiency in at least one.
• Ability to design clean, usable dashboards with strong visual hierarchy; portfolio or work samples are preferred.
• SQL proficiency for exploration, prototyping, validation, and dataset preparation.
• Knowledge of warehouse and lakehouse concepts, dimensional modeling, joins, granularity, slowly changing dimensions, and transactional versus analytical data.
• Strong ownership and self-direction, including managing priorities across stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal English communication and ability to explain results to non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a quantitative, analytical, design, or business field.

Preferred qualifications

• Hands-on experience with both Tableau and Amazon QuickSight, including dataset creation, calculated fields, parameters, row- and column-level security, and dashboard publishing, is preferred.
• Healthcare or health plan domain experience with claims, membership, provider, care management, or customer support data is preferred.
