Lead Solutions Architecture Engineer

Role overview

Architecture and delivery

• Own Atlassian platform architecture and define standards for project design, workflows, permissions, fields, and Confluence space taxonomy.
• Evaluate product capabilities, roadmap changes, and Marketplace apps; document architecture decisions, standards, and solution blueprints.
• Lead discovery and solution design for complex requests and translate ambiguous business needs into scalable platform solutions.
• Deliver complex configurations, including multi-project workflow frameworks, JSM architectures, and cross-tool integrations.
• Partner with the manager on the platform improvement roadmap and initiative sequencing.

Automation and migrations

• Design Jira/JSM automation and ScriptRunner (Groovy) frameworks, including complex workflow logic, validators, post-functions, and listeners.
• Build and maintain REST API integrations with identity platforms, ITSM tools, and business applications; establish reusable automation patterns.
• Lead or architect instance migrations, Server/Data Center to Cloud transitions, and post-merger integrations.
• Assess migration configurations, data mapping, and risks; develop runbooks and rollback plans while protecting data integrity and service continuity.

Governance and technical leadership

• Own Atlassian Access configuration, including SSO, SCIM provisioning, authentication policies, IP allowlisting, and audit logs.
• Set organization-wide governance for project creation, permissions, licenses, and app approval; support access reviews, data residency, and audit evidence.
• Lead license optimization and act as technical lead for Atlassian security incidents, misconfigurations, and compliance findings.
• Mentor administrators, review platform designs and automation, participate in hiring assessments, and represent the team in technical forums.

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on Atlassian experience with expert proficiency in Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence.
• Experience designing Atlassian architectures for large organizations with thousands of users and dozens of teams.
• Expert ScriptRunner (Groovy) experience and strong REST API integration experience.
• Experience leading Atlassian migrations or consolidations, including Cloud migrations.
• Deep knowledge of Atlassian Cloud security and governance, Atlassian Access, SSO/SCIM, and enterprise permissions.
• Clear communication of architecture decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders; excellent written and verbal English.

Preferred qualifications

• Atlassian certifications are strongly preferred, including ACP-120, ACP-420, ACP-620, or Atlassian Certified Expert.
• Familiarity with Atlassian architecture for AI indexing and Rovo answer relevance is preferred.
• Advanced Marketplace app experience, ITIL, cloud or DevOps integrations, regulated-industry experience, and post-merger platform integration experience are preferred.
