Senior Accountant (Construction Experience)

Role overview

Accounting and project responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting for construction projects and the Abu Dhabi site office; maintain ledgers, journals, records, and supporting documents.
• Handle accounts payable and receivable, including supplier invoices, subcontractor payments, customer collections, and follow-ups.
• Process business bank transactions, transfers, cheque payments, deposits, corporate banking documentation, and payment processing.
• Prepare bank, supplier, customer, and intercompany reconciliations.
• Monitor project costs, site expenses, petty cash, advances, reimbursements, budgets, cost allocations, and cash flow.
• Coordinate with project, QS, procurement, commercial, and site administration teams to verify costs and documents.
• Review supplier and subcontractor invoices against purchase orders, delivery notes, completion certificates, and approvals.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, project summaries, cash flow forecasts, and support month-end/year-end closing.
• Coordinate with auditors, banks, suppliers, and internal departments; maintain audit documentation and internal controls.
• Ensure compliance with UAE accounting, VAT, corporate tax, and company reporting requirements; investigate discrepancies and recommend corrective action.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 6 years of accounting experience exclusively or predominantly within construction.
• Strong construction project accounting, cost monitoring, accounts payable/receivable, and reconciliation experience.
• Practical knowledge of Abu Dhabi corporate banking procedures and business banking transactions.
• Experience with payments, transfers, cheque processing, bank reconciliations, and corporate banking documentation.
• Knowledge of construction accounting, supplier and subcontractor accounts, project expenses, and cash flow management.
• Familiarity with UAE VAT, corporate tax requirements, and applicable accounting standards.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting/ERP systems; analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently from an Abu Dhabi site office and coordinate with project and finance teams; UAE experience is mandatory or highly preferred in the source.
