Accounting leadership and operations
- Manage and oversee daily accounting department operations; supervise, mentor, and evaluate junior accounting staff.
- Establish and implement systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information.
- Maintain financial records, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Prepare balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and monthly profit and loss accounts.
- Monitor and reconcile bank accounts and other transactions; make supplier payments and maintain vendor relationships.
Planning, reporting, and controls
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting; forecast requirements, prepare the annual budget, schedule expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors.
- Identify process improvements and implement effective accounting procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local financial regulations and reporting requirements; maintain accurate, timely supporting records.
- Provide financial guidance to other departments and follow operational procedures and instructions.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Professional accounting certification such as ACCA, CPA, or CMA.
- At least 5 years of accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of Qatar financial regulations and accounting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office.
Additional capabilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and work effectively in a team.
- Fluency in English is typically required; knowledge of Arabic may be beneficial.
