Objectives
Post journal entries, update financial statements, maintain accounts payable and receivable, pay monthly payroll, and prepare financial reports.
Technical responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Enter financial data into accounting software or spreadsheets accurately and in line with accounting standards.
- Reconcile bank statements with company records and rectify discrepancies.
- Assist with general ledger updates, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Assist in preparing income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Use accounting software and tools such as QuickBooks, Excel, or specialized financial software.
General responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Process invoices and expense reports, verifying billing accuracy and supporting documents.
- Monitor and record business expenses, categorize them, and check compliance with expense policies.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and explanations.
- Perform basic variance or trend analysis to identify areas of concern or improvement.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and relevant regulations.
- Collaborate with colleagues, vendors, and clients to resolve financial discrepancies or inquiries.
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation for reference and audits.
- Work with senior accountants and financial managers on financial tasks and projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in accounting software and the Microsoft Office suite.
