Registered Nurse

Purpose

Clinical care

• Conduct initial and ongoing assessments, physical examinations, vital-sign checks, and symptom monitoring.
• Develop and update individualized care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments and monitor for adverse effects.
• Clean, dress, and monitor wounds for signs of infection.
• Assist with medical procedures and diagnostic tests.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and prevention.
• Record patient conditions and changes and report significant findings to the medical team.
• Respond to emergencies, follow established emergency protocols, and conduct purposeful rounding.
• Follow infection-control practices, participate in surveillance and reporting, and maintain cleanliness of patient items and equipment.
• Apply evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes.

Coordination and support

• Maintain accurate records of observations, interventions, and patient responses.
• Coordinate continuous care through communication and collaboration with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
• Provide emotional support and advocate for patients’ needs, preferences, rights, and voices.
• Respect cultural backgrounds and incorporate patient values and beliefs into care planning.
• Oversee junior staff and nursing students and provide guidance.
• Identify care challenges and contribute to solutions and practice improvements.

Qualifications and skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of clinical experience; staff with less than one year enter the RN residency program.
• Excellent command of English; Arabic is a plus.
• Strong clinical skills and proficiency in patient care and medical procedures.
• Strong organization, time management, communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and service skills; ability to manage work pressure.
• Computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, typing, and familiarity with electronic health records.
• Clerical abilities include preparing agendas, taking meeting minutes, and scanning documents.

Licenses and certifications

• License from the country of origin and a practice license from the applicable regional health regulator, such as SCFHS or DHA.
• BLS, ACLS, and other applicable LSTC courses.
