Inpatient Pharmacist

Job Purpose

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Reviews, interprets, and clarifies doctor's medication orders, verifying doses, duration, drug-to-drug interactions, and clinical indication.
• Oversees preparation of verified medications, double-checks labeling, and dispenses.
• Calculates the amount of drug product to dispense based on body weight and patient age.
• Tracks patients with discharge orders and prepares take-home medications, refunding or arranging return of non-administered medication.
• Follows all medication safety procedures when dispensing medications.
• Maintains inventory control and security of all drugs, record keeping, and secured storage of narcotics and controlled medications.
• Identifies and handles nearly expired medications per Fakeeh Care policies and never dispenses expired medication.
• Participates in chemotherapy preparations including order verification and protocol checking if applicable.
• Participates in intravenous admixture preparations, mixing and checking, including total parenteral nutrition.
• Properly completes charging of patients for dispensed medications.
• Contributes to training and induction orientation for newly hired pharmacists, students, and trainees.
• Reports to pharmacy supervisor/manager and enters any encountered medication error or ADR on OVR.

Requirements

• 0-2 years of experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
• Bachelor's Degree of Pharmacy.
• Good command of oral and written English.
• License for practice as per the regional health regulatory authority (e.g., SCFHS / DHA).
• Competent computer skills with software applications including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Proficiency in using pharmacy management software.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare team.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical practices.
