Director of Quality & Risk Management

Job purpose

Department and accreditation leadership

• Direct QRM department activities, including document and risk management, data management, audits, reviews, and performance improvement.
• Manage department assignments, schedules, recruitment, annual evaluations, and staff skill and competency development.
• Lead compliance with local and international healthcare regulations and standards and manage hospital accreditation processes.
• Advance quality and safety programs aligned with accreditation guidance, patient outcomes, and operational efficiency.

Policies, data, and improvement

• Oversee hospital policy and procedure development and revision to reflect current regulations and best practices.
• Identify suboptimal data trends and ensure KPI data is collected, analyzed, interpreted, validated, displayed, and shared in a timely manner.
• Lead performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and quality of care.
• Oversee QRM documents and clinical documentation reviews; address suboptimal performance with leaders and committees.

Safety and risk management

• Organize safety campaigns and observance days and develop educational content and events for staff.
• Oversee risk analysis and mitigation planning and related policies; cover the quality and risk manager role during absences.
• Conduct safety culture surveys, rounds, and tracers to assess practices and compliance with standards and International Patient Safety Goals.
• Coordinate staff training on improvement methods, risk assessment, policy development, data, just culture, occurrence investigation, and accreditation.

Organizational contributions

• Participate in applicable hospital committees and leadership rounds and maintain records of feedback and action taken.
• Develop QRM department orientation and ongoing in-service programs with relevant organizational departments.
• Participate in the annual Fakeeh Care budget process.
• Support person-centered care, patient safety, continuous improvement, safety protocols, confidentiality, cybersecurity practices, and organizational ethical standards.

Experience and education

• At least five years of experience in quality and performance improvement, including four years at managerial level.
• Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, nursing, medical science, or a related medical or clinical field.
• A master's degree is preferred.
• Relevant quality management, risk management, or patient-safety certification is mandatory; examples include Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality and Certified Professional in Patient Safety.

Skills and languages

• Excellent oral and written command of English and Arabic.
• Requirements include computer literacy, communication, analytical and critical-thinking skills, judgment, decision-making, organization, and time management.
• Ability to interpret studies, reports, literature, and regulations and apply them to work processes; collaborate across departments; and maintain high ethical standards.
• Required expertise includes improvement methods, data aggregation, validation and analysis, risk identification and management, healthcare compliance, risk mitigation, and team leadership.
