Registered Nurse

Role purpose

Clinical care

• Assess patient health through examinations, vital signs, and symptom monitoring; develop and update individualized care plans.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments, monitor for adverse reactions, and provide wound care.
• Assist with medical procedures and diagnostic tests; educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and prevention.
• Observe, document, and report changes in patient condition; respond to emergencies and follow established emergency protocols.
• Conduct purposeful rounds and apply evidence-based practices to improve outcomes and prevent complications.
• Follow infection-control standards, participate in infection surveillance, and maintain patient items and equipment.
• Maintain accurate care records and coordinate care with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Support and team duties

• Provide emotional support and advocate for patient needs, preferences, and rights.
• Incorporate diverse cultural backgrounds, values, and beliefs into care planning.
• Oversee junior staff and nursing students, providing guidance and support.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other professionals; identify care challenges and contribute to solutions.
• Participate in ongoing education and training and continuous improvement initiatives.

Education, experience, and credentials

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of clinical experience; staff with less than one year enter the RN residency program.
• Country-of-origin license and practice license from the applicable regional health regulator, such as SCFHS or DHA.
• BLS, ACLS, and other applicable LSTC courses.

Skills and languages

• Excellent command of English; Arabic is a plus.
• Interpersonal, service-oriented, teamwork, and work-pressure management skills.
• Computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, typing, and basic familiarity with electronic health records.
• Clerical skills including agenda preparation, meeting minutes, and document scanning.
• Strong organization, time management, communication, clinical, and patient-care skills.
