Develops and maintains products by preparing, testing, and evaluating coatings, binders, and raw materials.
Supports R&D strategy and technical competence through data-driven development and knowledge transfer.
Reports to the Regional R&D Manager – Powder Coatings; based at Jotun MEIA’s Regional Centre in Dubai, UAE.
Responsibilities
- Own assigned products, assets, projects, tasks, and global transfers from planning through formulation, testing, validation, and documentation.
- Execute projects independently and coordinate larger tasks to meet timelines and quality targets; provide data-based technical recommendations.
- Plan, execute, and interpret tests supporting international performance and certification requirements.
- Contribute to global and regional innovation projects, with a focus on sustainability-driven development.
- Coach junior chemists and technicians and build team competence through knowledge transfer.
- Follow HSEQ requirements and governance for raw materials, formulations, and test result documentation.
What we look for
- Relevant qualification and at least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Strong coating formulation knowledge; powder coatings, binder systems, curing chemistries, and application experience are preferred.
- Experience with performance validation, including weathering, corrosion, and accelerated tests, and knowledge of international test methods and standards.
- Ability to manage tasks and projects independently with structure and follow-up.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
