The Mechanical Technician – Steam and Gas safely installs, maintains, inspects, and repairs heavy rotating machinery used mainly in power generation.
Works closely with supervisors, HSE personnel, and the Operations Department.

Role purpose
The Mechanical Technician – Steam and Gas safely installs, maintains, inspects, and repairs heavy rotating machinery used mainly in power generation.
Works closely with supervisors, HSE personnel, and the Operations Department.
Essential duties
- Read schematic drawings and technical documentation to determine work procedures.
- Dismantle and assemble machinery using hand, power, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools.
- Move machinery and equipment using hoists, cranes, chain falls, and trucks.
- Align machinery using hoists, squares, micrometers, dial indicators, or specialist laser-alignment recommendations.
- Inspect machines and components using precision measuring equipment.
- Control tools, equipment, and supplies; perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and experience
- Diploma in a technical field; Gas Turbine Systems Technician is preferred.
- At least two years maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery and industrial service equipment, including pumps, motors, fans, generators, and turbines.
- Experience using tooling; knowledge of current technology and innovation.
- Knowledge of applicable legal, quality, and HSSE requirements and power plant operations, maintenance, equipment, practices, and procedures.
- Willingness to travel and work at international sites, hardship locations, and on shifts.
Working relationships and competencies
Works closely with outage managers, field service engineers, and supervisors; builds rapport with plant crews and contractors.
Expected to be achievement-oriented, punctual, collaborative, culturally aware, and a team player who follows shift schedules and leads by example.
