Specialist and technical leader for control systems serving utility-scale IBR power plants over 1 GW, including solar, wind, BESS, hybrid plants, and microgrids.
Work spans conceptual, basic, and detailed engineering, factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, and grid-code-compliant plant operation.
Engineering and control systems
- Develop architectures for normal, contingency, and emergency operation of IBR plants and large islanded microgrids.
- Account for inverter, STATCOM, wind turbine, and BESS characteristics and ensure grid-code compliance.
- Specify PV and hybrid controllers and apply AGC to project-specific power-system control needs.
- Design, set up, and tune controller gains, time constants, anti-windup, and low- and high-pass filters.
- Model controllers in PSS/e, DIgSILENT, or PSCAD and review static, dynamic, and transient studies and grid-impact reports.
- Use RTDS/HIL testing to validate control parameters and overall system performance.
- Apply GPS/GNSS time synchronization and IEEE 1588 (PTP) and IEEE C37.238 protocols.
- Interface and configure numerical meters and measurement devices; handle Class-A power-quality measurements under IEC 61000-4-30.
- Handle PMU/synchrophasor measurements under IEEE C37.118 and integrate them with PDC/SCADA.
- Interpret grid-code requirements and apply relevant IEC/IEEE standards and CIGRE technical guidance.
- Implement control-system cybersecurity and assess controller/PPC risks against steady-state and dynamic grid-code requirements.
- Commission control systems in the field, troubleshoot performance, reproduce issues with RTDS, conduct root-cause analysis, and tune parameters.
Experience and qualifications
- Requires 15 years of control-system experience and 5 additional years at technical leadership level.
- Minimum qualifications list B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical and Electronics, M.Tech. in Control Systems, and Ph.D. in Control System; the posting does not clarify whether these degrees are alternatives or cumulative requirements.
