Costing Accountant

Role purpose

Actual costing

• Coordinate monthly with production to finalize actual activities and close orders; check production-posted actual data and adjust as needed.
• Process period-end closing, including WIP, variances, and unrealized costs; post costing entries and provisions.
• Check period-end results and expenses, making adjustments as required.
• Settle investment internal orders to AUC and cost centers; design and update cost distribution cycles for service and general cost centers.
• Resolve costing issues and provide supervision and support.

Standard costing

• Prepare planned costing data based on agreed plant activity; enter standard costs and plant activity in the system and calculate rates.
• Maintain production work-center activity rates and check or adjust material master data.
• Check BOM and routing master data and inform planning of required corrections.
• Run material costing, maintain production-order overhead percentages, and upload overhead costs to production orders.
• Analyze item costs, coordinate corrections with planning, and release costs for related items.

Cost control and reporting

• Analyze WIP and unrealized costs and provide justifications for major orders.
• Identify and analyze production, purchasing, and inventory variances.
• Compare actual time posted with routing, prepare management reports, and monitor material consumption and cost irregularities.
• Prepare consumption and production masters, product costing statements, and special costing reports.
• Monitor actual results against budget and standard costing, perform variance analysis, and prepare cost estimates.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 4 to 6 years of experience.
• Skills in cost accounting, cost accounting best practices and systems, cost analysis, and industrial cost analysis.

General responsibilities

• Meet operational and development targets and delivery schedules; use resources efficiently and report deviations and task progress.
• Resolve related problems and escalate complex operational issues.
• Support effective quality controls and comply with applicable policies, procedures, work instructions, and health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Coordinate written systems and procedures and seek opportunities for automation.
