The QS Engineer handles quantity take-off, measurement, cost estimation, payment certification, and commercial documentation for construction projects.
The role requires accuracy, drawing interpretation, and commercial awareness.
Quantity measurement and commercial support
- Perform quantity take-offs from engineering drawings, specifications, and BOQ documents.
- Measure executed works for interim payment applications, subcontractor evaluations, and commercial reporting.
- Maintain traceable and auditable measurement records.
- Support tender preparation, cost estimation, pricing inputs, and commercial comparisons.
- Review documents for measurement gaps, scope risks, and pricing assumptions.
- Support contract administration, BOQ analysis, variation measurement, and billing documentation.
Billing and general duties
- Prepare and review payment certification documents and support billing procedures.
- Coordinate with site, planning, cost control, and finance teams to validate progress quantities and payment status.
- Assist with evaluating variation orders and claims from a quantity and measurement perspective.
- Report task progress and deviations, resolve operational issues, and escalate complex problems.
- Follow quality, policy, safety, and environmental procedures and support process improvements.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering or Civil Engineering.
- The description lists 4 to 6 years of experience and also includes a separate 2 to 5 years figure.
