Commis Chef (Emirati Cuisine)

About The Role

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of traditional Emirati dishes in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.
• Support senior chefs with daily mise en place and kitchen operations.
• Ensure ingredients are prepared, stored, and handled according to food safety standards.
• Maintain consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation.
• Follow kitchen recipes, portion control, and preparation methods accurately.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
• Adhere to HACCP, food safety, and sanitation regulations at all times.
• Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating stock using FIFO procedures.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service during busy periods.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Commis Chef or Kitchen Assistant, preferably in Emirati, Middle Eastern, or Arabic cuisine.
• Basic knowledge of traditional Emirati ingredients, cooking techniques, and recipes is preferred.
• Passion for culinary arts and willingness to learn.
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

• Culinary diploma or professional cookery certification.
• Experience in hotels, restaurants, or catering operations.
• UAE hospitality experience is an advantage.
