Role Summary

The role focuses on CIM data modelling and integration for the electric utility industry.

The expert enables interoperability among enterprise systems and supports asset management and digital transformation strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain CIM-based models for transmission, distribution, and generation assets using IEC 61970, IEC 61968, and IEC 62325.
  • Lead integrations across GIS, EAM, APM, ADMS, SCADA, data lakes, and other enterprise platforms.
  • Design semantic mappings and canonical models for accurate, consistent data exchange.
  • Align asset data models with lifecycle needs, including condition-based maintenance, AHI, risk-based planning, and outage analysis.
  • Maintain data dictionaries, mapping specifications, and data lineage documentation.
  • Support ETL/ELT, APIs, and real-time exchange for structured and unstructured asset data.
  • Advise on data governance, quality, and master data management.
  • Facilitate business and IT workshops to define requirements and CIM model adaptations.
  • Monitor CIM standards and industry practices and share knowledge internally.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years in the electric utility sector, including at least 3 years with CIM standards and data modelling.
  • Experience with asset management processes and systems such as IBM Maximo, SAP EAM, or similar.
  • Hands-on integration experience with GIS, APM, ADMS, SCADA, and/or data warehouses.
  • Understanding of power system models, network topology, and asset hierarchies.
  • Knowledge of ESBs, middleware, or APIs, such as MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, or Azure Integration Services.
  • Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and data quality standards.
