We are looking for a high-caliber

Chief Instrumentation Engineer

to join our team under an Abu Dhabi contractual framework.

Note: This position focuses strictly on full technical scope execution, package delivery, and project ownership for the assigned project, rather than hierarchical team management or tutoring.

Key Responsibilities And Duties

  • **Project Delivery & Ownership:**
  • Ensure that all engineering activities related to the Instrumentation discipline within the assigned project are efficiently and cost-effectively executed in strict accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety/environment requirements.
  • **Technical Assurance:**
  • Act as the ultimate technical authority and lead the Technical Assurance process for all assigned instrumentation, telecom, and field system scopes.
  • **Deliverables Approval:**
  • Formally review, check, and approve all engineering deliverables issued by the Instrumentation discipline for the project, including technical specifications, data sheets, inspection data sheets, material requisitions, and technical bid evaluations (TBE).
  • **Project & Cost Control:**
  • Prepare the deliverables planning for the instrumentation scope in line with the project schedule.
  • Control, review, and monitor any progress deviations from the plan, setting up recovery plans as necessary.
  • **Man-Hour Management:**
  • Plan discipline engineering man-hours in line with the progress schedule and budget, strictly tracking and monitoring spent vs. earned man-hours.
  • **Procurement & Vendor Interface:**
  • Perform or supervise the overall process of Material Requisitions (MR) for instrumentation packages (MR issue, technical bid evaluation, vendor follow-up, and review of vendor technical documentation).
  • Interact directly with equipment suppliers to resolve complex technical issues.
  • **Design Coordination & Optimization:**
  • Ensure that instrumentation engineering is developed with proper coordination among other engineering disciplines through interdisciplinary squad checks.
  • Analyze project constraints, propose design optimizations or changes to minimize material/erection quantities and project costs.
  • **Testing & Site Support:**
  • Participate actively in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) in vendor shops and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  • Support the Construction Department with work requisitions (quantities, scopes of work, bid tech evaluations) and assist the Site Technical Office during erection and commissioning phases.
  • **Commercial & Bidding Interface:**
  • Interact directly with Client technical representatives as the key technical contact for the instrumentation discipline.
  • Support the Project Management Team in case of disputes or claims (evaluating new scopes of work, cost/time impacts, and risks).
  • Review tender documentation and prepare technical clarification requests during the bid phase.

Your Profile

  • **Experience:**
  • 10–15 years of long-standing experience
  • in Instrumentation & Control Engineering specifically within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Energy EPC projects.
  • You must possess proven experience holding engineering leadership or project delivery ownership roles.
  • **Education:**
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in

Electronic Or Telecommunications Engineering

  • .
  • **Technical Domain:**
  • Deep knowledge of main I&C international codes, standards, and best engineering practices (ISA, IEC, IEEE, ATEX, NFPA, API, etc.).
  • **Systems & Packages Expertise:**
  • Strong understanding of Field Instruments, instrument installation/hook-ups, and I&C field engineering (routing, etc.).
  • Knowledge of ICSS (DCS/ESD/FGS), Building F&G, FIELD BUS, and SCADA systems network architecture.
  • **Industrial Telecom Knowledge:**
  • Solid technical baseline in Industrial TLC Plant Security systems (CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion Detection), Safety systems (PA/GA, Radio communications), and Plant Communication (structural cabling, networks, telephone systems).
  • **Software Toolkit:**
  • Advanced proficiency in

Smart Plant Instrumentation (Spi And Intools)
