We are looking for a high-caliber

Chief Pipeline Engineer

to join us under an Abu Dhabi contractual framework.

*Note: This position focuses strictly on full technical scope execution, pipeline engineering delivery, and project ownership for the assigned project, rather than hierarchical team management or tutoring.*

Key Responsibilities And Duties

  • **Project Delivery & Ownership:**
  • Ensure that all pipeline engineering activities (including onshore/offshore cross-country pipelines, trunklines, and flowlines) within the assigned project are efficiently and cost-effectively executed in strict accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety/environmental regulations.
  • **Technical Assurance:**
  • Act as the ultimate technical authority and lead the Technical Assurance process for all assigned pipeline engineering scopes.
  • **Deliverables Approval:**
  • Formally review, check, and approve all engineering outputs issued by the discipline, including pipeline routing, alignment sheets, wall thickness calculations, stress analysis reports, buoyancy control calculations, crossing matrices (road, rail, river, and third-party utilities), material requisitions, and technical bid evaluations (TBE) for line pipes and induction bends.
  • **Project & Cost Control:**
  • Prepare the deliverables planning for the pipeline discipline in line with the project schedule.
  • Control, review, and monitor progress deviations from the plan, setting up recovery plans as necessary.
  • **Man-Hour Management:**
  • Plan discipline engineering man-hours in line with the progress schedule and budget, strictly monitoring any deviations between spent and earned man-hours.
  • **Procurement & Material Requisitions:**
  • Supervise the overall process of Material Requisitions (MR issue, vendor follow-up, and review of vendor technical documentation) for critical pipeline components, including line pipes (API 5L), anti-corrosion/weight coatings, and isolation joints.
  • **Design Integration & Optimization:**
  • Ensure pipeline engineering is developed with seamless coordination among other engineering disciplines (Process/Flow Assurance, Civil, Geotechnical, Piping, and HSE).
  • Analyze project constraints, geohazard studies, and survey data to solve engineering issues promptly.
  • Propose optimizations to minimize material quantities and costs.
  • **Construction & Site Support:**
  • Support the Construction Department and the pipeline laying subcontractor during right-of-way (ROW) preparation, trenching, welding, non-destructive testing (NDT), field joint coating, lowering, hydrotesting, and pre-commissioning phases.
  • Assist the Site Technical Office in resolving engineering queries (EQs) from the field.
  • **Commercial & Bidding Interface:**
  • Interact directly with Client technical representatives as the key person for the pipeline discipline.
  • Support the Project Management Team in case of disputes or claims (evaluating new scopes of work, cost/time impacts, and risks).
  • Review tender documentation and prepare technical clarification requests during the bid phase.

Your Profile

  • **Experience:**
  • 10–15 years of long-standing experience
  • in Pipeline Engineering within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Energy projects.
  • You must possess proven engineering leadership experience on large EPC projects with a specific focus on cross-country pipelines and pipeline systems.
  • **Education:**
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in

Mechanical Or Civil Engineering

  • .
  • **Technical Domain:**
  • Deep knowledge of major international Pipeline Codes and Standards (specifically
  • ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, API 5L, ISO 13623
  • , DNV-ST-F101 if applicable, and NACE).
  • Strong command of pipeline mechanical design, stress analysis (soil-pipeline interaction), pipeline integrity management, and hot tapping techniques.
  • **Languages:**
  • Fluent written and spoken
