Assistant Manager – Electrical for utility-scale or commercial and industrial solar PV projects.
Leads electrical engineering, installation, testing, commissioning, and quality control; manages field engineers and contractors and coordinates interdisciplinary teams.
Ensures project delivery to schedule and budget, compliant with grid codes and safety standards.
Key responsibilities
- Review single-line diagrams, layout plans, cable schedules, earthing designs, and protection schemes.
- Coordinate optimization of cable sizing, inverter locations, and transformer capacities to minimize losses.
- Supervise installation of solar modules, DC/AC cabling, combiner boxes, inverters, transformers, and high-tension switchgear.
- Oversee high-voltage and extra-high-voltage substation construction and grid interconnection.
- Monitor site progress, allocate resources, and meet project baseline milestones.
- Lead testing and pre-commissioning of transformers, circuit breakers, relays, and SCADA systems; coordinate grid synchronization.
- Ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards, local electrical codes, and site HSE standards.
- Manage contractors, subcontractors, and vendors; assist with factory acceptance testing and component inspections.
Qualifications and requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
- 4–8 years of electrical construction and project management experience, including 2–3 years dedicated to solar PV projects.
- Proficiency interpreting electrical schematics, AutoCAD, and PVsyst reports.
- In-depth knowledge of grid interconnection norms, switchyards, transformer stations, and SCADA/PLC systems.
- Strong leadership, site management, vendor negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
