Role Overview

CGI is hiring an AI Developer Co-op for an eight-month term beginning in January 2027.

The role is a hands-on Forward Deployed Engineer position building full-stack software for banking, insurance, and wealth management clients.

The work includes front end, back end, data, deployment, and daily use of AI coding tools.

Responsibilities

  • Build full-stack software including front ends, back-end APIs, and databases.
  • Work with business users to understand problems and ship working solutions.
  • Use AI coding tools to design, write, and test code quickly.
  • Design prompts and context and build harnesses and loops for reliable AI-assisted development.
  • Create REST APIs, query PostgreSQL and MongoDB, test software, fix bugs, and share learning with the team.

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Java and Node.js full-stack development.
  • Ability to build user interfaces and connect REST APIs and services.
  • Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
  • Experience building full-stack software with AI coding tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Antigravity, or Claude Code.
  • Knowledge of prompt, context, harness, and loop engineering.
  • Clear written and spoken English communication.
  • Enrollment in or completion of a relevant computer science or software engineering program with co-op eligibility.

Assets

  • Cloud deployment experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Docker is an asset.
  • Experience with LLM or AI APIs, financial services, or personal and open-source projects is an asset.

Work Term

  • The work term is eight months and starts in January 2027.
  • The application deadline is October 2, 2026.

Compensation

  • The estimated compensation range is $18-$32 per hour.
