Drive design, implementation, and optimization of technology solutions across the trading lifecycle at an energy trading firm.
Own delivery from data pipelines through business-facing tools while keeping the technology stack stable, secure, and resilient.
Responsibilities
- Partner with traders, risk, operations, and technology teams to deliver solutions supporting business objectives.
- Drive trading-lifecycle automation and process improvement.
- Build, run, and own the in-house reporting and data platform using Microsoft Fabric, Spark, Delta, SQL, and Power BI.
- Define and enhance trading architecture, integrations, and data ecosystem.
- Implement pricing, hedging, and arbitrage logic and validate models with the desk.
- Lead analytics, reporting, and workflow solution implementation.
- Manage technology vendors and third-party service providers.
- Translate business requirements into scalable solutions and roadmaps.
- Ensure data quality, governance, and accessibility across platforms and functions.
- Advise stakeholders on emerging technologies and best practices.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 8+ years in commodity trading, energy trading, or trading technology environments; identified as a must-have.
- Strong understanding of trading operations, risk management, market data, and trade lifecycle processes.
- Working knowledge of pricing benchmarks, PRAs, differentials, hedging with futures and swaps, and arbitrage economics.
- Must-have hands-on SQL, Python, and Spark skills.
- Experience with trading platforms and ETRM/CTRM systems, such as Openlink Endur, Allegro, RightAngle, or SAP.
- Experience with APIs and market data feeds.
- Hands-on knowledge of data, analytics, cloud, and automation tools such as Fabric, Azure, Power Platform, and Power BI.
- Can bridge business and technical stakeholders; experience leading transformation, process improvement, or digitalisation; strong problem-solving in a fast-paced trading environment.
