Director leading the Data Enablement for AI data engineering squad.
Builds enterprise data products for ML and AI teams, with a strong focus on Corporate and SME Banking data.
The role remains hands-on in SQL and Python and owns the data mart and data product roadmap with Product Owners.
Responsibilities
- Set data engineering standards, medallion design patterns, and delivery practices for scalable, reusable data products.
- Design, build, and optimize complex SQL in Amazon Redshift and Microsoft SQL Server, including stored procedures, views, materialized views, and functions.
- Build Python pipelines on AWS and deliver feature-ready datasets for ML and AI teams.
- Use model outputs to create business intelligence for Corporate and SME Banking.
- Define dimensional modelling standards, star schemas, SCDs, and conformed enterprise models.
- Partner with Data Platforms and Architecture on AWS services, orchestration, and CI/CD.
- Embed data quality checks, lineage, access controls, and documentation for governance and CBUAE compliance.
- Lead, hire, and mentor the squad; conduct code reviews and drive delivery performance and agile practices.
Qualifications and experience
- At least 15 years of data engineering and data warehousing experience.
- Banking industry experience working with Corporate and SME Banking data.
- Hands-on AWS and Amazon Redshift experience.
- Proven experience leading a data engineering team or squad.
- Experience delivering medallion-based data products and data marts for ML and AI consumption.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- AWS Data Engineer or Solutions Architect certification is preferred.
