T&C Protection Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Test main, backup, and auxiliary relays and execute testing independently on BSP projects.
• Operate relay software applications and primary and secondary current injection kits.
• Read and verify protection schemes in the field.
• Recommend operational procedure improvements and identify shortcomings in existing systems.
• Schedule and coordinate work to meet tight deadlines.
• Coordinate testing and commissioning with internal and external stakeholders and advise on procedures and documentation.
• Produce or assist in producing testing and commissioning documentation.
• Perform testing and commissioning within specified site time and cost requirements.
• Monitor progress, record test results, witness final testing and equipment acceptance, and compile the site test dossier.
• Ensure safe commissioning of installations to meet plant performance and project program requirements.

Minimum qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 8–15 years of experience in EHV substation testing and commissioning.
• At least 5 years of experience on 380kV substation projects in Saudi Arabia or the GCC.
• Competence testing main, backup, and auxiliary relays and executing work independently.
• Ability to operate relay software applications and primary and secondary current injection kits.
• Thorough knowledge of protection scheme reading and field verification.
