System Engineer (Dynatrace)

Role overview

Engineering and platform responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain, and improve scalable, secure, resilient, cloud-native monitoring platforms.
• Maintain platform documentation and conduct code and configuration reviews.
• Analyze platform performance and monitoring data, and collaborate on changes, testing, releases, incidents, and problem resolution.

Dynatrace administration

• Administer Dynatrace in hybrid, on-premises, and multi-cloud environments; deploy, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot agents, ActiveGate, extensions, and integrations.
• Govern entities, service detection, groups, management zones, tagging, ownership, and naming conventions.
• Build dashboards, notebooks, reports, and monitoring standards using DQL, Grail, logs, metrics, traces, and user-experience data.
• Optimize alerting, anomaly detection, Davis AI, workflows, maintenance windows, and ITSM integrations.
• Maintain observability KPIs, platform integrations, security, access controls, retention, compliance, health, licensing, and capacity.

Stakeholder and operational work

• Support major incidents with monitoring insights, telemetry analysis, root-cause identification, and service-improvement recommendations.
• Partner with application, infrastructure, cloud, database, network, cybersecurity, and service-management teams to improve monitoring coverage.
• Translate observability data into technical findings, business insights, risk assessments, and improvement plans.
• Embed observability requirements in new services, applications, and infrastructure deployments.

Experience and education

• At least 7 years of overall IT experience and 5 years of hands-on experience in Dynatrace, observability, APM, infrastructure monitoring, or platform operations.
• Experience with large enterprise environments is required; banking or regulated-industry experience is preferred.
• Strong understanding of banking operations and production support environments.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related discipline.

Certifications and technical knowledge

• Dynatrace Associate Certification is mandatory or must be achieved within the agreed onboarding period.
• Dynatrace Professional Certification is preferred; Azure, AWS, ITIL Foundation, Kubernetes, Linux, or related certifications are desirable or advantageous.
• Knowledge includes APM, distributed tracing, service-flow analysis, Windows, Linux, VMware, Kubernetes/OpenShift, databases, middleware, cloud, storage, and networks.
• Scripting and automation experience includes PowerShell, Bash, Python, REST APIs, Git, and operational automation tools.
• Knowledge of RUM, synthetic, browser and mobile monitoring, ServiceNow, governance, RBAC, audit controls, and platform lifecycle management.
