Job Responsibilities
- Conduct daily site inspections of foundations, columns, beams, slabs, shear walls, cores, and structural steel elements.
- Verify compliance with project drawings, approved method statements, material submittals, and applicable international and local codes.
- Check construction sequences, formwork, reinforcement placement, concrete pouring and curing, and structural steel erection.
- Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to address non-conformities and technical site issues.
- Monitor progress, workmanship, milestones, and safety compliance.
- Witness applicable concrete slump, cube, rebar, and non-destructive tests.
- Maintain inspection records, photographs, and daily reports using paper and digital systems such as Aconex or Procore.
- Assist with shop drawing, bar bending schedule, and as-built submission reviews.
- Escalate design deviations and safety concerns to the Senior Structural Engineer and Resident Engineer.
- Support handover inspections and closure of structural punch-list items.
Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- At least 7 years of site inspection experience, including at least 3 years in shopping malls or large commercial buildings.
- Strong knowledge of concrete and steel construction practices, sequencing, and safety protocols.
- Familiarity with international building codes such as ACI, BS, or Eurocodes, and local authority requirements.
- Proficiency with inspection tools, field instruments, and digital reporting systems.
- QA/QC certification or training is a plus; safety certification such as OSHA or NEBOSH is an advantage.
